Sino-US Co-Production Documentary China From Above Held Broadcasting Gala in Beijing

On September 23rd, 2015, China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC), together with National Geographic Channel (NGC), held signing ceremony for strategic cooperation “China Revealed” program and the broadcasting gala for documentary China From Above. The two organizations declared that they would further partnership in the future and carry out more comprehensive cooperation in the fields of programming, training and communications, as well as marketing and advertising. The televised documentary China From Above, a co-production of the two organizations, is scheduled to be broadcast on network television of both China and the US simultaneously on the occasion of President Xi’s meeting with his American counterpart, making the grand beginning of the “China Revealed” program. Cui Yuying, Undersecretary of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Deputy Director of Information Office of the State Council attended the event and delivered a speech.
CICC is an communication organization engaged in international cultural exchange. NGC, as a well-known documentary channel worldwide, has launched co-production business with various important partners from China. Over the past decade, with the help of the Information Office of the State Council, the two organizations have jointly produced televised documentaries lasting over 30 hours such as Megastructures: Beijing Water Cube, Inside：Ice Vegas, The Chinese Hajji, Kungfu Motion, Green China Rising and Crossroads—2000 Years on the Silk Road. All these works have succeeded in telling Chinese stories from an international perspective and showing local customs as well as development and change of China via the platform of NGC to global viewers, well promoting their understanding of China.

A rapidly developing China has been of interest to the world and has provided inspiration for documentary production and cultural products. In this context, the two organizations intend to further their cooperation and jointly launch the strategic “China Revealed” program. With the cooperative framework agreement, NGC will set up a TV program named “China Revealed” and programs about China will be broadcast in a fixed time to more than 100 million viewers from over 30 Asia-Pacific countries and regions. In addition, they will carry out further cooperation in talent training and publicity and boost the industrial exchange between China and the rest of the world. Jing Shuiqing, Deputy Director of CICC, and Simeon Dawes, NGC (Asia) Executive Vice-President, co-signed the cooperative agreement.
Cui Yuying, Undersecretary of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Deputy Director of Information Office of the State Council, attended the signing ceremony and expressed her appreciation for the strategic cooperation. She also expressed her hope that with the close cooperation between the two organizations, more quality works will be produced and more wonderful Chinese stories will be enjoyed by viewers from around the world.
